Business challenges
The last couple of years the financial institution transformed from a label-oriented organization into a division-oriented organization. This is just one of the reasons why they didn’t have any insight in the cost structure of its products. Historically, the financial sector didn’t really pay attention to costs. The financial institution has asked Atos Consulting to help ‘reconstruct’ the knowledge regarding the value chain and to attach costs to it and to the commercial products using cost management models.
Our solution
Atos Consulting’s Solution focused on speed and insight in the complete value chain within the Netherlands. In order to achieve results in limited time, over thirty models were build in parallel by client-AC combined teams. Each model assigned the own budget of an organizational unit to a number of semi-finished products. During a Value chain market, suppliers and customers reconciled the mutual deliveries in order to connect all links of the value chain.
The results
- In a period of half a year, the total banking value chain within the Netherlands has been modeled
- A number of cost managers have been made enthusiastic and educated
- Value chain managers were supplied with cost information and the knowledge how to interpret it
- Managers have been offered the means to understand and influence the cost structure of their departments
